A sweet box is usually just a container. But during Diwali, it becomes a vessel of celebration.
When a client approached me for a special edition festive package, the brief was unique: they wanted the Ram Mandir illustrated on the box. The challenge was to take a monument of immense spiritual and architectural weight and translate it onto a commercial product without losing its sanctity.
It was a project where heritage branding met devotion.
I didn't want to just draw a building; I wanted to capture its presence.
Sketching the Ram Mandir required a focus on silhouette and structure. I stripped away the microscopic details and focused on the iconic spires and the grounded base. Using clean, intentional lines, I aimed to capture the calm majesty of the temple.
The goal was to ensure the illustration felt recognizable and respectful, yet minimalist enough to work beautifully on a printed surface.
Translating a detailed pencil sketch into commercial packaging requires a shift in perspective. A sweet box is folded, printed, and handled. The art had to be versatile.
We refined the sketch into crisp, printable vectors. To elevate it for a special edition Diwali release, the lines were intended to be printed in subtle gold foil against a rich, deep background. This contrast turned the packaging into a premium keepsake, not just a disposable box.
The minimalism of the line art allowed the typography and the box structure to breathe, creating a balanced, sophisticated design.
The final result was a sweet box that carried a story. When customers bought it for Diwali, they weren't just sharing sweets; they were sharing a piece of heritage.
This project remains one of my favorites because it proves that commercial design can be deeply meaningful. By treating the subject with respect and the design with restraint, we created packaging that honored both the festival and the faith.
If you are looking to infuse your next product with meaningful, story-driven design, I would love to collaborate.
