How It Began
It started with a doodle during a Sunday morning prayer. I was reciting the Hanuman Chalisa, as I often do, and my hand instinctively reached for a pen. By the time I finished the first chaupai, I had sketched a rough outline of Hanuman in flight. That moment felt different. It felt sacred.
That single sketch became a six-month journey. I read and re-read each of the 40 chaupais, sometimes dozens of times, letting the words settle before I drew a single line. Some verses came easily — the imagery is vivid. Others required deeper contemplation, finding the emotional core before the visual one.
This book is not about translating old into new. It's about creating a direct, tactile encounter with sacred text — something you can hold, color, and make your own. No prior knowledge required, just a willingness to sit with the words.
